For kittens in the 1st growth stage: weaning to 4 months
Kittens grow in 2 unique phases. In the first stage, weaning to 4 months, the switch from milk to solids is delicate and can create digestive issues for the kitten. The immunity transmitted by the mother decreases when the kitten’s own immune defenses are not yet fully functional. Proper nutrition is essential to getting babycats off to a healthy start.
For kittens in the 2nd growth stage: 4 to 12 months
Kittens grow in 2 unique phases. In the second stage, 4 to 12 months, the kitten’s growth slows down. Her digestive system and natural defences develop but remain fragile, her bone structure strengthens gradually and her final set of teeth appear. Proper nutrition is important to ensure she grows to be a healthy adult cat.
